About The Yoga
Bikram Method Hatha Yoga is a sequence of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises practiced in a heated room. It is specifically designed to work the entire body, using heat to stretch deeper, prevent injury and flush unwanted toxins. Each posture stretches and strengthens specific muscles, ligaments, tendons and joints needed for the next posture. This yoga series stimulates the organs, glands and nerves and systematically moves fresh oxygenated blood to 100% of the body helping to restore all systems to a healthy working order.
Bikram scientifically designed this 90 minute program to deliver total health through the balancing and strengthening of every system in the body in order to prevent illness and injury, promote weight loss and limit the effects of aging. The series is dynamic and exhilarating. The series of postures combine skills of concentration, patience, determination and self control that increase mental clarity and reduce stress. The room is heated to warm your muscles preventing injury and allowing for a deeper workout.
Bikram Yoga can be practiced under the guidance of a certified Bikram Yoga Teacher at one of the affiliated Bikram Yoga studios. These studios are built in such a way that you always get the proper heating (105F) which help you to do your postures optimally. To become certified, Bikram Yoga Teachers spend 9 weeks immersed in an in-depth study of Bikram Yoga with Yoga Masters Bikram and Rajashree Choudhury and their staff of senior teachers.
The Bikram series is suitable for all ages and levels of ability.
