Why did you decide to become a teacher?
In the past 35+ years of practice, yoga and meditation have given me more direct pathways to peace, understanding, and ease than I could have ever imagined when I walked into my first class. From 1998 - 2009 I taught an alignment-based Hatha yoga in Virginia, Utah and Camas WA. (I did some moving around during those years). After a teaching break I was so inspired by Yin Yoga that I decided to teach again. Physically, my Yin practice was a major reason that a hip bursitis injury healed so quickly. Mentally, I find Yin Yoga has helped me to release deep tension in ways I had not experienced before. Teaching is my way of giving back some of all the good I’ve received.
What is your favorite Yin Yoga posture?
So hard to choose! Extended Leg Supported Bridge with a block, especially after a good Hot Yoga class. I love savoring the feeling of my hip flexors releasing and my lower back draping towards the floor as it totally lets go.
